For all feeding consults, try to bring the baby hungry. For most infants, 2 hours since the last feed is sufficient. If your infant doesn't go that long between feeds or is ready to feed before the appointment, feed the baby! We can focus on education and discussion first and work on feeds when the baby is ready!
If you're breast/chestfeeding, ensure that your milk has not been expressed since the last feed. If you are supplementing, ensure you have expressed milk or formula available.
Have any additional supplies you are needing for feeding (SNS, Nipple Shield, specific positioning pillows, etc.) available and ready for use.
People in your life are more than welcome to be around to discuss concerns, and learn how to best support you in your feeding journey!
Write down all of your questions and concerns so we can ensure all of your needs are met during our consult time. I am always available for questions as well!
